Intro to Generative Art in Processing
This course is designed primarily for Artists and Designers trying to "uniquify" their work by getting into generative art.
In the course, you'll acquire the skills to program and create a high-quality generative art piece* that can be used in any shape or form. You can turn it into wall art, packaging design, or a gift wrapping pattern.
You'll be able to develop a grid-based colorful generative piece and learn how to export a vector file that will allow for high-quality images or further manipulation in software like Adobe Illustrator.
Programming experience is not necessary. Students who have never touched code have taken this course and produced unique, beautiful artwork.
You can download the latest version of Processing here. And guess what? It's free!
Course duration — 46 minutes
*The first image (after the intro video) you'll be able to create following this course, and with the lesson on "how to use the documentation page", you'll be able to use other shapes to create your version of the other images I present. Students who took this course created unique grid artworks by playing with the shapes and parameters. See a few examples down below.
Abhishek Kapahi used arcs to fill the grid. They also kindly shared the code in p5js format, which is not far from Processing.
Barbora Kotryova used rounded corners on rectangles to create this mesmerizing design.
Sylvester Negron took advantage of the "control the flow" lesson to offset every other column and create a honeycomb effect.
And there are more amazing projects under the course project tab on Skillshare. Check them out.
You'll get a 46-minutes course to kickstart your generative art journey.
